Our on-site community partners
As a Development Trust, Bridgend Farmhouse is committed to supporting community wealth building - encouraging the development of local, socially responsible initiatives for the benefit of the local community.
We are proud to host 3 onsite Community Partners:
The Very Inclusive Play Club
The Very Inclusive Play (VIP) Club is a community interest company that offers groups to support the learning and development of children aged 0-6 who have additional needs and their parents.
The VIP Club creates a space for parents and children to bond, have fun, and share experiences with others. Members can learn techniques and strategies used in the group to support their child's development at home.
They focus on:
communication
behaviour
sharing
following instructions
sensory stimulation
supporting choice
play
and much more!
Trees & Seas Outdoor Adventures
Trees and Seas Outdoor Adventures provides free, open-access outdoor play for EH16 and EH17 families through an easy online booking system: treesandseasoutdooradventures.com
Nature Play: Weekly sessions for 0-6yrs and caregivers in Craigmillar Forest and coastlines in Summer months, fostering child-led discovery, self-esteem, and social skills through free play. Parents also connect and support each other.
Forest for All: Monthly inclusive, Forest School-inspired sessions for children with additional support needs (ASN), primarily primary age and below. Partnering with The Very Inclusive Play Club CIC, we offer a nurturing environment for holistic growth and confidence building.
Stay and Play: Held at The Eco Bothy at Bridgend Farmhouse every month, these sessions offer broader outdoor play opportunities, encouraging free exploration and community building for children up to 8 years.
All of these sessions are funded by Thrive Outdoors Community Play Grant.
Find out how you can join these sessions on our What’s On page.
A wee pedal
‘A wee pedal’ is an award-winning social enterprise based at Bridgend Farmhouse.
As part of our commitment to our local community, we provide a range of free community rides for individuals and organisations. These take place throughout the year and are listed on our what’s on page.
Led rides from Bridgend Farmhouse follow beginner-friendly, flat routes to some of Edinburgh’s local attractions and beauty spots.
We know that getting on the bike saddle for the first time (or after a long time) can be daunting. Instruction for beginner cyclists or those who just want to brush up on their road sense or cycling technique are also provided.
